Who is God and Why Should You Care?
Discovering Christ’s forgiveness in ninth grade was exhilarating, and yet as an adult, I’ve often felt trapped by circumstances and overwhelmed by the life I believe God led me into.
For years, I’ve wanted to relate how God has been a major factor in shaping my career choices, who I married, how we raised a family by adopting out of foster care, and how Christians from countries and regions like Nepal and the Middle East chose to believe in Christ as the Son of God even though those beliefs aren’t popular.
I’m also fascinated by how people say they believe in God but live as though He doesn’t matter or He’s nice as long as their lives aren’t interrupted.

Why Don’t I Write a Book?
Friends often said, “You and Cindy (my wife) should write a book on your family.”
They knew the highs and lows we went through in forming a family out of the foster care system in Los Angeles County.
For more than 10 years, I’ve started writing a book like that, but I’ve also struggled for many, deeply personal reasons and I’ve stopped writing. Start. Stop. And yet, I’ve written thousands of articles on my own, blog posts for clients, novels, website copy, and ghostwritten books.
Hopefully, my struggle is ending and I can see clearly on how to move forward with what’s on my mind. I’ve become convinced that the larger issue isn’t about our family story but about God directing people into the lives He wants them to lead.

The God Factor explores about 50 years of how I came to believe in Christ and how living a life of service was a natural fit.
Look for written articles plus future audio interviews.
This is a return to my roots in journalism, a devotional I wrote for and edited with the late Roberta Winter and many others called The Global Prayer Digest, and a radio series that eventually became the Global Minute along with the features Christmas Panorama and Easter Panorama that I wrote and narrated for about 22 years, airing on several hundred radio stations.
Oh, wait. I’ll interrupt myself.
Look above in the second paragraph. I start with “For years …” and below that “For more than 10 years …” and I start this section with how I’m exploring about “50 years” of my up-and-down journey with Christ.
The early 2000s until now, about 20 years, has been perplexing, and frustrating. and eye-opening professionally, personally, and spiritually.
What I’ll be writing and sharing here has been brewing in me … for years. Some of the material will turn into books, I’m sure.
And I’ll write about why having a family with kids of different races makes me think of God’s kingdom. I want to explore how I look at creation and the human body as evidence that God exists and how God moves inside our minds and directs us.
Big topics but ones that have turned over and over in my thoughts.
I hope you’ll get a deeper understanding and appreciation of how God moves, that we have purpose, and that believing in Christ is an eternal decision.
And I also hope the Pittsburgh Pirates will win the World Series again someday but that’s another issue. Or is it?
So, yeah, we’ll have some lighthearted fun, too.
